FBISD’s Safe and Drug Free Schools Department will sponsor “Bullying Awareness Week”

Now - 10/12
“Taking Action Together” will be the theme of FBISD’s Bullying Awareness Week, which will be observed October 8-12. Sponsorerd by FBISD’s Safe and Drug Free Schools Department (SDFSD), Bullying Awareness Week is held during National Bullying Prevention Month and was created to educate all members of the FBISD community about bullying and encourage everyone to speak up and report incidents. The goal is to create a climate where all people are cared for and respected. There will be suggested activities provided by the SDFSD, as well as campus-created events to share with the students. Each day will highlight a topic related to the issue of bullying. Universal codes of behavior related to bullying will be shared, a pledge will be signed, and short video clips will be available. Students are encouraged to wear purple on one day of the week and perform an act of kindness for another person. For more information about Bullying Awareness Week, please contact Dr. Bob Conlon, Director of Student Support Services at [email protected].

FBISD Students to take part in Mock Election

As part of the Mock Election, parents are invited to vote along with their children. Each child is allowed two parent votes. If parents have multiple children in the District, we ask that each parent votes only once to model the actual election process. Below are directions for casting your parent vote. (more…)

Lamar CISD Forum on Redistricting

10/11
Brazos Crossing Building
2911 Avenue I
Rosenberg
The District is divided into seven single-member election districts and residents of each district elect a single member to the Board of Trustees. Because areas of Lamar CISD have experienced dramatic population growth between 2000 and 2010, federal law requires that the District redraw boundaries for each of the District’s election districts. The public hearings will allow community members to learn about proposed boundary changes and to give input to the Board as it considers adoption of a proposed redistricting plan. After the Board adopts a proposed redistricting plan, the District must submit the proposed plan to the Department of Justice for final approval. Once approved, the new election district boundaries will take effect for the May 2013 Trustee election. Districts 1, 2, 3 and 6 are up for election in 2013; districts 4, 5 and 7 are up for election in 2014. Go to www.lcisd.org<http://www.lcisd.org and click on the Board of Trustees link on the right side of the page for more information about the redistricting process and to see a map that includes proposed boundary changes to the District’s election districts.

As the donor of an item, your name or business name will be acknowledged either on the actual raffle ticket or on the silent auction bid sheet (unless otherwise specified). Any donation you could make, large or small, would help make this event a success.
