About Sugar Land Magazine
So long, Sugar Land! It sure has been sweet.
Almost 10 years after starting Sugar Land Magazine, it’s with a heavy heart that I’m announcing this will be our last issue. We genuinely love the people, families, children, and all the community leaders we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know through the years. This is purely a business decision. Unlike our other community magazines, Sugar Land Magazine has not sustained the page growth (in advertisers) to support our grand editorial vision. Although our readers have been hugely supportive and wonderful champions of ours through the years, the advertising has remained somewhat stagnant and has not grown in line with our other magazines. With the super fast-growing Katy and Cypress areas, our team has made the difficult decision to follow the growth and expand our current offerings in those areas, which means discontinuing Sugar Land Magazine.
I’m proud to say that in 10 short years, Sugar Land Magazine has won countless awards at the state, regional, and national levels, and we are proud to go out on a high note. We have consistently won awards for general excellence, cover design, editorial content, graphic design, ad design, and so many more. Sugar Land, you should be proud to know your little hometown magazine is very well known in publishing circles all over the state and even as far as New York City, where we are members of the American Society of Magazine Editors. Last year, I was selected to participate as a judge in the National Magazine Awards in New York City, where I spent several days judging alongside editors from The Oprah Magazine, Elle, and National Geographic, just to name a few publications. I love it when I’m at an editors’ or publishers’ conference and people do a double take at our magazine and ask, “Wow, where is Sugar Land? This looks like an unbelievable place!” Indeed it is.
We are very grateful to you, our fabulous community, for reading Sugar Land Magazine, and following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and all the other places we have been connecting with you every day. We hope you can tell by looking at the pages of this issue how much we have loved being part of such a special place as Sugar Land.
Thank you for the sweet memories!
