Healing after the loss of a loved one is a personal journey and no two journeys are alike. Sharing your feelings with others, finding that you are not alone in your pain can be vital in getting through those tough weeks and months that follow your loss. The group is led by their hospital chaplain. It meets Tuesdays through November 11, 2014. Group size is limited, so register by calling 713-222-CARE. Attendance is required for all four weeks.

The Skriker

The play follows the Skriker, a shape shifter, that is ancient and damaged in its search for love and revenge. Skriker pursues two young women, Lily and Josie, changing its shape at every new encounter. Along with the Skriker comes Rawheadandbloodybones, the Kelpie, the Green Lady, Black Dog and more, until the whole country is swarming with enticing and angry creatures that have burst from the underworld. Tickets for the performance can be purchased in advance. Advance tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults. Ticket prices at the door are $8 for students and $12 for adults. This year, The Austin Playhouse will offer a family price of $35 for two adults and two students. The show has a rating of PG, as it may not be suitable for young children. Sugar Land Branch Library will present a performance by Houston Grand Opera’s “Opera to Go!” of an original production, Cinderella in Spain, in the meeting room of the library. This family-friendly light opera, sung in English and Spanish, presents the traditional Cinderella fairy tale with a Hispanic twist. The king plans a fiesta to find a bride for his son, Prince Paulo, but havoc erupts when two stepsisters crash the party. Prince Paulo meets and falls in love with an unknown seniorita who loses a glass slipper in her rush to leave. Will he find his one true love once again? The Fort Bend Education Foundation has passed the torch to the City of Sugar Land after eight years of hosting the event. The city will celebrate iFest Live and the diversity of cultures in the community. Dozens of local organizations will showcase their unique heritages through performances, art, food, and activities. The first 2,000 children who “travel the world” at iFest Live will gather eight official stamps and receive a free drawstring backpack. The event is free. Named Texas Art Educator of the Year in 2013, Cheryl Evans is adjunct faculty at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where she teaches drawing. She also teaches in the Community Bridge program at the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston’s Glassell School of Art. She is a contributing author of the state-adopted art textbook, Art Talk, and remains active in the Texas Art Education Association after having served as president. Evans is a producing watercolorist, and holds signature status in the Watercolor Art Society-Houston. Her work is displayed in numerous corporate and private collections in Texas and across the country. The program is free and open to the public. International Games Day

Gaming of all types at the library encourages patrons to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their own expertise with others, and develop new strategies for gaming and learning. It provides an opportunity for families to reconnect with the educational, recreational, and social value of games. This year’s celebration of International Games Day will include activities planned at three locations in the Fort Bend County library system. Native American Crafts, Dances, and Games
