B.F. Terry High School Announces Athletes of the Year

Corynn Acuff and Eugene Wright were named B.F. Terry High School’s Athletes of the Year. The announcement was made at the school’s annual Spring Fling celebrating athletes from all sports.

Acuff is a four-year lettermen in volleyball, and was also on the Terry track team in 2013 going to Regionals in the High Jump. She has received numerous volleyball awards that are a result of her true athletic ability and leadership: Fort Bend Herald MVP for 2012; Fort Bend Herald First Team All-Area 2012, 2011; Fort Bend Herald Second Team All-Area 2010. Academic All-State 2012; Academic All-District 2009, 10, 11, 12; District 24-4A MVP 2012; District 24-4A First Team All-District 2012 and 13; District 24-4A Second Team All-District 2010; Lady Ranger Kill Leader 2011 and 12; Lady Ranger Block Leader in 2011 and 12; and third in digs 2012. She was elected as a team captain by her teammates. Acuff is member of the National Honor Society. Next year, Acuff will be playing volleyball at University of Texas at Pan American.

Wright played two sports in high school – football and basketball. As a sophomore football player, he made Second Team All-District as a receiver. As a junior, he made the Academic All-District team. His junior and senior year, he made the First Team All-District as a running back. Both years, he was named to the All State team as a return specialist. As a senior, Wright made Academic All State and was named the All-Area Player of the Year in football by the Fort Bend Herald.

Wright is also a four-year letterman in basketball. As a freshman, he received Honorable Mention Point Guard; his sophomore year, he made the Second Team All-District as a point guard, and his junior and senior years, he was named to the First Team All District as a point guard. As a senior, he was a member of the first team All-State tournament and received the Leadership Award from The Fort Bend Herald. He was proud to receive his state championship ring when the boys varsity basketball team made district history when they brought home the 4A state championship trophy.

Wright, a member of the Terry High broadcasting team, also received the U.S. Marine Corps award for leadership. He earned a football scholarship and plans to attend Stephen F. Austin University in the fall.
