The First Colony Middle School Bobcats Think Pink!
Last month, the First Colony Middle School PALS and Cheerleaders organized a THINK PINK day to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. The Bobcats held a door decorating contest, a Powder Puff Football game, and collected donations from students and faculty that wore jeans in conjuncture with Lee National Denim Day.
FCMS also participated in the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Campaign, a program that makes wigs for cancer patients going through chemotherapy. The groups also held a contest that would allow a lucky student to cut a participating faculty member’s hair. All together First Colony Middle School had a total of nine students and five faculty members cut their hair for the Beautiful Lengths Campaign. Bea Valdez and Jordan Bayne of the Funky Hue Hair Studio donated their time to ensure each participant walked away with a straight cut.
The First Colony Bobcats were able to raise $1,200 that was donated to cancer research. Thanks to everyone at First Colony Middle School, we couldn’t have done it without you!
The Beautiful Lengths participants included: Teachers Tracy Kelly, Silvia Coatsworth, Holly Rose, Danielle Krantz, and Liz Tanaka. Students, Amalu Job, Sophia Silva, Gopika Babu, Ivy Perez, Angel Biju, Emily Bohnsack, Emma Yarrow, Maya Perez and Gloria Contreras.
