Sugar Land, TX News - Lamar CISD’s Kindergarten Roundup for 2014-2015
Sugar Land, TX News (April 24, 2013) - Lamar CISD’s Kindergarten Roundup for the 2014-2015 school year will be April 28-May 9. Registration will be open at all Lamar CISD’s elementary campuses from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment.
Online pre-registration is available at www.lcisd.org. After completing the on-line registration, parents must come in person to the school to bring documentation and verify information.
Lamar CISD has three early childhood programs: PPCD, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten.
The Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) is for children with severe learning problems caused by poor speech, vision, or hearing. Children with physical, mental, or emotional difficulties are also eligible. Lamar CISD will screen any child whose development is of concern to his or her parents. Lamar CISD offers full-day kindergarten classes for all children who are five-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2014.
LCISD offers half-day and full-day pre-kindergarten.
The Seguin Early Childhood Center is the District’s full day Pre-K program. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Seguin ECC accepts students zoned to the following elementary schools: Bowie, Jackson, Long, Pink, Seguin, Smith, Ray, and Travis.
To be eligible for pre-kindergarten, a student must be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2014, and one of the following:
- Have limited English-proficiency because a language other than English is the primary language spoken in the home; OR
- Qualify according to the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines; OR
- Be homeless; OR
- Is, or has ever been, in conservatorship of the Dept. of Family and Protective Services; OR
- Is the dependent child of an active member of the U.S. Armed Forces, or the dependent of a veteran who has been injured or killed while on active duty.
