SUGAR LAND, Texas (SLM) – Nothing’s better for dinner on a hot, summer day than a cool, crisp salad. Fort Bend restaurants take salads beyond the ordinary lettuce and veggies and make them sensational. We found seven you will definitely want to try.

Blu Restaurant | Lounge

Euro-Asian cuisine is on the menu at Blu Restaurant | Lounge. e Blu Asian salad offers a delicious fusion of the two cultures combining frisee, napa cabbage, and crisp wontons, along with a creamy miso dressing. “Chef Jett prepares it with chicken or calamari,” says co-owner, Amy Karnani. “Everything we make is in-house.” If you’re in the mood for red meat, try the spicy char-grilled beef salad that combines steak slices with tomatoes, onions, mint, dried chili, and lime juice.

It’s known for desserts, but The Cheesecake Factory’s salads are also to die for. A fan favorite is the Sante Fe salad that combines mixed greens with lime-marinated chicken, corn, black beans, cheese, tortilla strips, and tomato, drizzled with a spicy vinaigrette. Not only are e Cheesecake Factory salads tasty, the servings are generous. “A lot of people order the lunch size portions or share,” says manager Michael Vo. e chopped salad with romaine, apples, blue cheese, avocado, grilled chicken, corn, tomatoes, and vinaigrette is also popular.

Escalante’s Mexican Restaurant

e number one seller here is the fajita salad according to manager Abundio Reyes. e salad blends grilled, marinated, chicken fajitas, with crisp greens. Another favorite is Pat’s Mexico salad, made of eld greens, tossed with mango chipotle dressing, pine nuts, walnuts, goat cheese, and topped with salmon or grilled shrimp. Although this is a Mexican restaurant, their Kopi’s Greek salad is also a tasty choice when paired with grilled chicken fajitas and imported Greek feta cheese.

Perry’s Steakhouse and Grille

Perry’s might be known for their steaks, but they also have paired it with salad. e Mediterranean steak salad has mixed greens, diced red onions, cherry tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives, and balsamic vinaigrette topped with feta cheese and beef tenderloin medallions. For bacon lovers, there’s the chopped salad with applewood smoked bacon, iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and Italian dressing. For a sweeter touch, try the eld green candied pecan salad with spring mix, mandarin oranges, pears, and candied pecans. The iceberg wedge is also a favorite because of its buttermilk vinaigrette, grape tomatoes, chopped green onions, and sliced red onions with smoked bacon.

Jason’s Deli

Sandwiches aren’t the only good thing on the menu at Jason’s Deli. Many customers like the fact that they can customize their own bowl of greens at the deli’s salad bar. One of the most loved made-to-order salads is the nutty mixed up salad. Natural grilled chicken breast pieces, grapes, feta cheese, nuts, dried cranberries, apples, pumpkin seeds, and raisins join field greens in this tasty meal. If you’re in the mood for something less sweet, try the chicken club salad with grape tomatoes, cheddar and asiago cheeses, chicken, and bacon, atop mixed greens.

Dressings for all the salads at Lasagna House are made fresh at the restaurant, which is why their salads taste so unique. A popular favorites is a classic, the house salad. Made of romaine and iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, tomatoes, black olives, red onions, and parmesan cheese – this salad is sure to please. The chicken Caesar salad, which combines romaine lettuce, croutons, and grilled chicken with house Caesar dressing, makes it a hearty and delicious choice.

The name alone hints that salads are on the organic menu at Ruggles Green, Houston area’s first certified “green” restaurant. The top ordered menu item is the goat cheese salad, made of mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, parmesan cheese, warm goat cheeses, and toasted almonds. Also well-received is the blackened shrimp salad where shrimp joins fresh pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, raisins, dried mango, and pistachios in this fiesta of flavors.

Customers like to design their own salads at this Brazilianinspired restaurant, choosing from a variety of different greens, vegetables, and meats. Another popular menu item is the crab and avocado salad that includes jumbo, lump crab meat, sliced avocado, red onion, and tomato, topped with a jalapeno vinaigrette. Crave a heavier meal? Try the pampas salad, which serves grilled beef tenderloin over mixed greens, grilled vegetables, Cotija cheese, and fire-roasted tortilla chips.
