Austin High School Science Olympiad
Students from Stephen F. Austin High School SciOly team recently qualified for the Texas Science Olympaid at Texas A&M University. As part of the competition, the team battled over 30 students from around the state. The team placed ninth and won four medals.

Baines Middle School Career Day
Some 500 students from Baines Middle School participated in career assessment tests to help them identify career fields that may be of interest to them. In addition to spending time with specialists in various fields of work, students were also able to play a game that involved being given a “salary” and having to pay expenses.

Lamar Artists Present at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Several Lamar CISD students were honored for their artistic abilities as part of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art program. Each of the finalists pictured competed for a spot in the HLSR art show auction. Students from St. Lawrence Catholic School in Sugar Land took part in a community service project at the Mamie George Center in Fort Bend, as well as Trini’s Corner Market – a local food pantry for low-income families and senior citizens.

Michael Wang Named Finalist in Touchdown Club
Michael Wang, a senior at Clements High School, was recently a finalist in the Touchdown Club of Houston. Wang is a two-year letterman in varsity football as a wide receiver for Clements. He is also president of the National Honor Society and an Eagle Scout.

Travis High School Cadet Travels to Nation’s Capital
Senior Samantha Guerrero is a cadet commander in Travis High School’s Marine Corps JROTC program. Guerrero was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. where she was able to visit the plot for her great uncle Joaquin, a military pilot who was labeled “missing in action” during the Pacific Campaign of World War II.
