Mia Bella Trattoria at First Colony Mall to open Monday, November 7

Zagat-rated restaurant offers ‘Italian-with-a-twist’ menu

Mia Bella Trattoria is set to open at First Colony Mall on Monday, November 7. The restaurant, a longtime Houston favorite that was recently awarded an excellent rating from Zagat, features a unique design with an open kitchen in the dining area and a bar that has a sliding wall that opens onto a large outdoor patio, overlooking the water gardens of the shopping center. “This is ideal timing for the shoppers here at First Colony Mall and we are pleased to have Mia Bella ready to serve our holiday visitors. The open, relaxed atmosphere and the delightful, comforting Italian dishes will be so welcoming after a day of shopping – or just for a wonderful evening out,” says Donna Molho, general manager of First Colony Mall. “Downtown Houston has loved Mia Bella for years and we welcome the restaurant to Sugar Land.”

Like the restaurant’s original menu, Mia Bella at First Colony Mall will offer pasta, seafood, meats and vegetables, all made with Italian ingredients, but with the restaurant’s own stylish twist – thus its “Italian with a twist” theme. The menu, a combination of familiar foods and daring preparations, includes a number of house specialties which set the pace for the kitchen. Favorites includes sautéed chicken breasts with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, capers and shitake mushrooms served over herbed couscous and grilled filet of beef tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto topped by Gorgonzola and green peppercorn sauce with garlic-leek mashed potatoes. The restaurant also boasts a unique assortment of pizzas and sandwiches.

Mia Bella at First Colony Mall offers a large private dining area for private parties and corporate meetings. The restaurant will offer catering services for area residents and businesses.

The Mia Bella at First Colony Mall is owned by Julio Garcia, a strategic partner of Mia Bella Restaurants and owner of the Vintage Park location. He is opening the new location with founder Youssef Nafaa, who started the original Main Street restaurant more than a decade ago. Mr. Garcia has an extensive history in the restaurant business, where he began working as a busboy when he was just 16.

The restaurant is located outside First Colony Mall in The Courtyard restaurant plaza, near Sephora. Free valet parking, courtesy of Texas Direct Auto, is available directly in front of the restaurant.

Mia Bella will be open seven days a week. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. On Sundays at 10:30 a.m., Mia Bella will serve brunch, which was lauded as one of the best in the city by Houston Press.
