Quail Valley GT Academy Students win First and Second Place at Regional Science Bowl
Two teams of Quail Valley Middle School GT Academy students participated in the Regional Science Bowl held in March at Texas A&M University and won first and second place out of 32 other teams competing in this highly challenging competition. In April, the first place team will compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl Finals competition in Washington, D.C.
The Department of Energy created the National Science Bowl in 1991 to encourage students to excel in mathematics and science and to pursue careers in these fields. It is the nation’s largest science competition. This is the second consecutive year that Quail Valley Middle School GT Academy students have won first and second place at the Regional contest.
Coached by science teachers Connie Carrillo and Carol Benjamin, the following students comprise the two winning teams:
1st Place - Rahul Nagvekar, Helen He, Aman Patel, Daniel Ho and Eric Shen
2nd Place - Ben Liu, Regina Chen, Suchin Kundra, Christopher Mao and Kevin Si
