Extra Collection Day after Christmas Targets Bulky Trash, City Offices Closed

Additional “Bulky Waste” collection days in Sugar Land have been scheduled after Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Bulky Waste service is normally provided once a month for items too large to fit in the garbage cart. Bulky waste does not include construction, demolition or hazardous wastes.

On the first regular collection days after Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, bulky items may be placed at the curb next to solid waste and recycling collection carts. For example, those with regularly scheduled trash pickup on Dec. 26 may put out items that are too large for carts.

Regular solid waste and recycling pickup will occur as normal, though City offices will be closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s.

Christmas trees (ornaments and lights must be removed) will also be picked up during green waste collection days (the schedule is posted at www.sugarlandtx.gov/public_works/solid_waste_recycling/solid_waste/find_pickup_day.asp) and recycled into mulch or compost at a composting facility.

For more information, visit www.sugarlandtx.gov/solidwaste or contact the City’s solid waste and recycling contractor, Republic Services, at (713) 726-7307.
