Open to the public, the fourth annual Empowering the Community charity event will be held at Sweet Water Country Club in Sugar Land this year to accommodate the growth in attendance. The charity, the Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships, provides financial assistance to low income families in Louisiana, as well as weatherizes homes and provides jobs to their communities. The 3 day event features the following: May 5th (6pm – 11pm)– Five Star Black Tie Gala with a live & silent auction; May 6th (12pm – 9pm) – BBQ, Chili and Gumbo Cook-off with live music, celebrities and the silent auction; May 7th (6:30am – 5:30pm) – Golf Tournament featuring a host of professional athletes and celebrities.
