Dulles High School hosts Spanish Day for FBISD Elementary School Children

Dulles High School’s Spanish classes hosted their annual Spanish Day on December 1 to give elementary school youngsters an opportunity to practice their Spanish language skills through various interactive activities. The event welcomed more than 90 bilingual students from Jones and Mission Bend Elementary Schools for a day of storytelling, letter writing, crafts, and even a visit from Santa.

Throughout the day, the children visited various reading stations in the school’s library to hear Dulles Spanish class students read storybooks they designed especially for the day. The interactive storybooks asked the elementary school students to act out certain scenes or follow instructions that revealed surprises in the stories.

Prior to the visit, the elementary students wrote letters to Santa in Spanish as a classroom activity. During the event, a few of the students were asked to read their letters to Santa.

The event was coordinated by Ruth Jeffery and Alice Fortes, DHS Spanish teachers; and Sherie Hickel, DHS librarian.
