Doctor’s Day Awards Ceremony

At its seventh annual Doctor’s Day awards ceremony, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital (MSLH) literally rolled out the red carpet for their physicians, including seven leading physicians nominated and voted on by over 900 hospital employees.

In honor of Doctor’s Day, community members and hospital employees had the opportunity to participate in the MSLH “Thank a Doctor” campaign. They were able to thank a special doctor in honor of National Doctor’s Day and show their appreciation to a physician who has touched their life by writing him or her a short note.

Ladybugs at Atria Retirement Facility

The Ladybugs of Fort Bend County fluttered to Atria Retirement Facility in Sugar Land for an Easter visit to spread cheer to the elderly patrons there.

They helped to motivate the residents with games, prizes, songs, delicious refreshments, and harp music. They brought magazines, toiletries, backscratchers, lap blankets, and other items that the patrons love to use.

The Ladybugs have been in existence since 2007 and they enjoy visiting the mentally challenged, elderly, and sick to help brighten their day and to let them know they are being thought about. They wear wings and antennas when they visit them, which helps to bring smiles to the faces of the patrons at the facilities.

Methodist patient gets an uplifting visit

Malcolm Host received a powerful pick-me-up when he received a visit in the hospital by his dog, Chai, a 6 year old toy poodle. Chai’s trip to the hospital was the first personal pet visit at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital (MSLH), facilitated by PAWS Houston. Typically, pet therapy involves the use of animals that do not belong to the patients.

“This is wonderful of MSLH to coordinate this visit. To me, having her here makes all the difference in the world,” Host said, as he stroked his dog’s ears.

March Kids for Kindness hosts Book Drive

Campbell Elementary Kids love our librarian, Mrs. Peters! To show our appreciation, we collected gently used books and donated them to Seguin Early Childhood Center. We hosted the Book Drive during the week of the Spring Book Fair. Students dropped off gently used books to donate as they went in to purchase new books for themselves. We collected over 500 books. The staff at Seguin Early Childhood Center were very excited with a surprise load of good books to share with students. This month we learned about the virtue of honesty. Honesty is choosing to be truthful in whatever you say or do. Go out into the world and spread some kindness. As Mrs. Koerth, our principal would say, “Do something nice for yourself and someone else.”
